For those vehemently opposed to artificial intelligence in art and creative endeavors, the most unsettling aspect of Eli Roth's horror film, *Ice Cream Man*, might not be the sadistic ice cream man or the bloodthirsty, possessed children.

Following a discussion with Polygon about a hand-drawn animated sequence featured in the movie, which Roth had previously described as a scene he himself drew and brought to life with animators to achieve a "wobbly, old-fashioned look" akin to "old Mickey Mouse cartoons," the director has now confirmed that generative AI was employed in its creation.

In a subsequent update shared with Polygon, Roth clarified: "I misspoke. AI was used in a very small portion of a few scenes in the film. It was an opportunity to blend technology and creativity to bring my vision for the film to life."

This statement confirms that the previously discussed scene is among the few that utilized generative AI, with the extent of its use in other parts of the film yet to be fully disclosed. Given the frequent strong opposition from fans towards generative AI in creative projects, it remains to be seen if and how this will affect the film's box office performance.
