Exodus Unveils New Insights into Its Story and Combat Companions
Since its initial reveal, the upcoming game Exodus has frequently drawn comparisons to the acclaimed Mass Effect series. This is entirely understandable; the development team includes former BioWare staff, and Exodus itself is a science-fiction role-playing game where players, alongside a diverse crew of companions, venture across the galaxy. However, a key distinction appears to be emerging: a clear separation between companions integral to the overarching narrative and those primarily focused on combat.
Recent information, including character concept art and biographies, sheds light on the game's diverse cast of companions. As previously noted, Exodus seemingly categorizes these allies into two distinct groups: those who will accompany players on active missions and those who will primarily serve narrative purposes within the crew on the main ship.
Among the combat-focused companions revealed so far are Tom Vargas, Elise Charroux, Salt the Octopus, Phaedra, and Suliman. While Tom, Phaedra, and Suliman are depicted in rather basic gear, sparking hopes for extensive customization options like cool armor and space suits as the game progresses, Salt the Octopus is described as "perfect as is," and is sure to be an immediate fan favorite. A minor visual critique at this stage, however, is that some of these characters might currently appear a bit... ordinary?
The story companions, on the other hand, remain somewhat more enigmatic. While C.C. Orlev and Emrys have been introduced, details for others, including their names and full biographies, are currently redacted. Intriguingly, one of the redacted characters strongly resembles a wolf, potentially adding a much-desired four-legged companion to the player's crew, checking off a popular wishlist item for many RPG fans.
