This makes it significantly harder to feed and care for the nearly one thousand animals housed within its expansive grounds in Havana. The report indicates that zoo employees are managing to keep the animals alive through improvisation and new support partnerships. For instance, staff are utilizing horse-drawn carts and electric tricycles to navigate the 375-hectare park, while agreements with small private businesses are facilitating the acquisition of food and supplies.
