Irish Boxer Lee Reeves in Critical but Stable Condition After Devastating Knockout
Thirty-one-year-old Irish boxer Lee Reeves was rushed to the hospital after suffering a devastating knockout during his fight against Gary Cully in Dublin. The BUI Celtic super-lightweight title bout reached its tenth round when Cully delivered a straight right hand that sent Reeves to the canvas. He was unconscious and subsequently transported to the hospital. A spokesperson confirmed that Reeves is currently in "critical but stable condition."
"We will know more in the coming days, and our thoughts and prayers are with Lee and his family," a spokesperson for Reeves stated, as reported by the BBC. Cully, who was the favorite in the fight, had initially acknowledged Reeves as an underdog but was impressed by his performance. "He's really shown he can compete at a higher level. He truly deserves all our respect," Cully remarked, also sending his thoughts and prayers to Reeves.
Inspired by fellow Irish boxing star Katie Taylor, Lee Reeves has a professional record of 18 fights, with 16 wins (11 by knockout) and 2 losses.
