Macron Praises Europe's Predictability, Criticizes Trump: "Not Bad in These Times"
Emmanuel Macron lauded Europe's 'predictability' during a visit to Japan, in remarks largely perceived as an implicit critique of Donald Trump.
Addressing business leaders in Tokyo, Macron acknowledged that while Europe might be seen as a slower continent, its stability was a significant asset. He stated, "Predictability has value... we are where you know we will go."
He contrasted this stability with nations that act swiftly but unpredictably, warning that such countries could make decisions "that might harm you without even informing you."
These comments come amid heightened tensions surrounding the Iranian conflict, and on the same day, Trump told The Daily Telegraph that the U.S. was strongly considering withdrawing from NATO.
"I am well aware that Europe can sometimes be perceived as a slower continent than others," Macron told the audience of Japanese business leaders and investors in Tokyo.
"But predictability has value, and we have demonstrated this throughout all these past years and, dare I say, even these past weeks: we are where you know we will go."
"That's not a bad thing, in these times, believe me," he added.
