Mohamed Salah to Leave Liverpool on Free Transfer in June

Mohamed Salah is set to conclude his illustrious career at Liverpool this June, the club has announced. This confirms earlier speculations that the Egyptian forward would not see out his contract, which was extended just under a year ago to run until 2027.

In an official statement, the club revealed: "The forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will allow him to close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield. Salah expressed his desire to make this announcement to supporters at the earliest possible opportunity to provide transparency regarding his future, out of respect and gratitude towards them."

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, and among numerous accolades, he secured a Champions League title and two Premier League crowns, notably achieving 29 goals and 18 assists in the league during the 2024/25 season. These impressive statistics had motivated the club to extend his contract, originally set to expire in June 2025, through to June 2027. However, a significantly more subdued performance this current season—with only 5 Premier League goals to date and a total of 10 goals and 9 assists across all competitions—which notably led to him being benched by Arne Slot in December, likely paved the way for this impending farewell.

Some had even predicted a mid-season departure in winter, but fortunately for Liverpool fans, Mo Salah will remain with the club until June.

Upon the season's conclusion in June, Liverpool will permit Mohamed Salah to leave as a free agent, meaning the club will receive no financial compensation despite him having another year remaining on his contract.
