For those unfamiliar, the GB Operator functions as an adapter capable of accepting these various Game Boy cartridges, allowing them to be played on a computer through emulation.
The Retrace app significantly simplifies the verification process, proving especially useful for individuals looking to purchase Game Boy games and wishing to confirm authenticity before making a financial commitment. Given the substantial industry dedicated to producing inexpensive fake cartridges, Retrace provides a crucial layer of defense for collectors.
Utilizing Retrace with the GB Operator is designed to be user-friendly. Users simply need to ensure their GB Operator is updated with the latest firmware and download the Retrace app to their smartphone. By connecting the GB Operator to their phone via a USB-C cable and inserting a cartridge, the app will not only verify its authenticity but also display the typical market price for that specific game.
