Nintendo Donates 50 Million Yen to Aid Kumamoto Earthquake Victims
In response to the devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake that recently struck the Kumamoto region of Japan, Nintendo has stepped forward with a significant gesture of support. Similar to aid provided in other disaster-stricken areas, the company is offering assistance to those impacted by the tragedy.
Nintendo has announced that it will provide free repairs for consoles and accessories belonging to individuals residing in the affected areas. Furthermore, the company is donating 50 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society to further support the victims.
The official statement from Nintendo reads:
"We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake. Our company will provide free repair services for our products for individuals residing in regions covered by the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake disaster relief law, until February 1, 2027. Additionally, to support those affected, we will be donating 50 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society."
The statement also provides a link for repair requests from the designated relief areas, stating: "For repair requests originating from regions covered by the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake disaster relief law, please also refer to the following page."
Nintendo reiterates its sincere condolences and wishes for a speedy recovery for all those impacted.
