Rafael Jódar secured his maiden ATP Tour title at just 19 years old at the Grand Prix Hassan II (the ATP 250 Morocco Open). He showcased a dominant performance, defeating veteran Marco Trungelliti (36) with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory. Jódar's confident run saw him drop only one set throughout the entire tournament, and from the quarterfinals onwards, he won every set by at least a three-game margin.
Jódar's rapid ascent in professional tennis has been a significant talking point. He claimed three consecutive ATP Challenger titles in the latter half of 2025 and subsequently qualified for the NextGen Finals. This incredible trajectory saw his ranking skyrocket from World No. 896 at the beginning of 2025 to No. 168 by year-end. He continued his impressive progress with match wins in Australia, Dallas, Acapulco, and Miami, where he notably reached the third round. His recent triumph in Marrakech, which marked only his seventh ATP Tour appearance, propelled him up 32 spots to a new career-high World No. 57.
With this remarkable achievement, Jódar now stands alongside Joao Fonseca as a leading figure of the youngest generation of elite tennis players. They are the only two players born in 2006 or later to have reached an ATP Tour final, solidifying their status as rising stars in the sport.
