Robert Lewandowski Scores First MLS Goals in Chicago Debut
Robert Lewandowski netted his inaugural goals for the Chicago Fire on Sunday, contributing to a 2-1 victory over Charlotte. This marked his third MLS appearance, his first win, and his highly anticipated home debut in his new city, Chicago. He had previously faced away defeats against Inter Miami (3-2) and New York (3-1). Despite these early challenges, Chicago Fire currently sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points from 17 matches, positioning them well for a playoff spot.
The Polish striker dedicated his goals to his father, a tradition he upholds whenever he scores his first goal for a new team, believing his father is "surely up there watching." Robert's father, Krzysztof Lewandowski, passed away in 2005 when Robert was 17.
Lewandowski also shared that he is taking time to "understand how my teammates play, what kind of football they play, their positioning with and without the ball." He further expressed his admiration for his new city.
