Screenwriter Steven Knight on the Next James Bond Film with Denis Villeneuve: 'Things Are Moving Quite Well'
Given that screenwriter Steven Knight has recently completed "Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man" and director Denis Villeneuve is intensely focused on finishing the third and final installment of his "Dune" trilogy, it's perhaps no surprise that updates on their collaborative James Bond project have been scarce. However, this quiet period might soon be coming to an end.
In a recent interview, Knight was questioned about the James Bond film he is penning for Villeneuve. The "Peaky Blinders" creator remained tight-lipped due to the project's secretive nature. Yet, he did hint that news about the film could emerge relatively soon, indicating that work is progressing steadily.
He shared, "I mean, I can't give details, obviously, but I love it. It's so much fun."
When pressed about when to expect further announcements, he continued: "Yeeesss. [It depends on what you mean by 'soon,' but yes. I mean things are moving rather well."
Those eagerly anticipating this new chapter of Bond will apparently have to remain patient for some time yet. Details regarding the start of production and a premiere date remain unknown, as does the crucial question of who will take on the role of 007 after Daniel Craig. In essence, Knight's careful phrasing — "depends on what you mean by 'soon'" — appears to be the most significant takeaway from this latest update.
