Shigeru Miyamoto: "I Don't Really Play Games by Myself Anymore"
The visionary behind some of the world's most iconic video games, including Donkey Kong, Zelda, and Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto, continues to work diligently at 73, with no immediate plans for retirement. However, he has apparently ceased one particular activity: playing video games himself.
In a candid interview with Famitsu, as reported by GamesRadar+, Miyamoto unexpectedly stated, "Well, I don't really play video games by myself anymore."
This doesn't imply a complete disinterest in gaming; rather, he has found a new way to experience it. Miyamoto shared how gaming fits into his life these days: "If there are video games at their place, my grandchildren play them too much, so I keep them at my house and tell them, 'If you want to play, come to Grandpa's.' The little ones can't finish the games on their own, so I think it makes them happy when we finish them together. They are really scared of the boss in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, so I take care of that for them."
One could say that being a grandfather to budding young gamers is an incredible adventure in itself. As long as Miyamoto is happy, we are happy. He has certainly earned it.
