Sinner Continues Unstoppable Run, Breaks Masters 1000 Record in Miami
Jannik Sinner shows no signs of slowing down, having dispatched Corentin Moutet with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win on Monday to advance to the round of 16 at the Miami Open. This victory marks an incredible milestone for Sinner: an astonishing 26 consecutive sets won at the Masters 1000 level.
This achievement sees Sinner eclipse the previous record of 24 consecutive sets held by Novak Djokovic, set between Indian Wells and Monte Carlo in 2016. He also surpassed Carlos Alcaraz's streak of 21 sets, achieved between Indian Wells and Miami in 2023.
The Italian world No. 2 is poised to climb closer to the top spot in the ATP rankings following Carlos Alcaraz's elimination on Sunday. Despite his semi-final defeat at the Australian Open, Sinner has dominated the two most recent Masters 1000 men's singles tournaments, securing titles in Paris (November 2023) and Indian Wells just last month. He currently boasts an impressive 13-match winning streak at the Masters 1000 level and is now eyeing a third consecutive crown, which would also be his second title of the year.
Sinner is set to face Alex Michelsen in the round of 16 on Tuesday, March 24, with the match scheduled to begin no earlier than 9:00 PM CET (8:00 PM GMT).
