One of the significant crises facing today's young generation globally is the struggle to access their first home, a challenge experienced in countries like Spain and South Korea. However, in South Korea, it appears the government is preparing to make life more difficult for real estate speculators and large landowners who hoard property, thereby inflating prices and restricting free market access.

According to a Reuters report, the South Korean government launched a reform initiative today, Monday, aimed at increasing taxes for the nation's major property owners. This move seeks to alleviate public discontent over high real estate prices and stock market volatility.

"We will reasonably reform real estate taxation to establish a housing-centric real estate market, based on the principle that a home is a place to live, not to invest," stated Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol.

Regarding the changes incorporated into the announced annual tax code revisions, the Ministry of Finance has proposed increasing property tax exemptions for those who own and reside in their own homes, while reducing them for all others.
