Ubisoft's NFT RPG "Champions Tactics" to Cease Operations in October
The adventure for "Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles," Ubisoft's NFT-based turn-based RPG, is coming to an end. In a statement released on the game's Discord channel, it has been announced that the project will soon be shutting down, with a full decommissioning scheduled for October 2026.
The official last day of operation for Champions Tactics is set for October 30th. Leading up to this date, several changes will be implemented to inform fans of the impending closure. Notably, in-game purchases will be disabled across all platforms. This decision follows the game's discontinuation of Web3 support in May, as it aimed to reinvent itself.
The closure announcement states: "After careful consideration, we have made the decision to end the game. Champions Tactics servers will officially be shut down on October 30th.
"Until then, the game will remain fully playable, and our aim is to ensure players can continue to enjoy the experience during these final months. As part of this transition, in-game purchases will be disabled across all platforms.
"We sincerely thank you for your support, passion, and dedication to Champions Tactics. We will provide more details and reminders as the closure date approaches."
Champions Tactics was launched in 2024 and experienced a turbulent lifecycle, largely due to its NFT-centric design, which has remained a contentious point for many users. The game's concept revolved around using virtual currency or cryptocurrency to acquire characters for in-game use, but this approach never truly gained traction.
