Zelensky Accuses US of Neglecting Russia-Iran Ties and Over-Trusting Putin
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently asserted that the United States has overlooked evidence of Russian assistance to Iran, facilitating attacks on US bases in the Middle East. He attributes this oversight to an excessive trust in Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelensky specifically claimed that Russian satellites mapped vital energy infrastructure in Gulf states and Israel, alongside the locations of American military bases, subsequently sharing this intelligence with Tehran to aid in planned assaults.
Zelensky also criticized negotiators from the Trump administration, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, suggesting they spent too much time with Putin and failed to grasp Russia's true intentions. Furthermore, he deemed US Vice President JD Vance's recent visit to Budapest to support Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán as "not helpful," emphasizing that he would not interfere in Hungarian elections.
Finally, Zelensky urged Europe to bolster its military cooperation with Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Norway. He warned that without such a unified bloc, Europe would struggle to match Russia's military might. He elaborated, stating, "Without Ukraine and Turkey, Europe will not possess a military force comparable to Russia's. However, with Ukraine, Turkey, Norway, and the United Kingdom, you will control security across the seas, rather than being confined to just one."
