Obsidian’s approach to the Grounded series has been commendable, with each title launching in Early Access/Game Preview and subsequently evolving based on player feedback. This iterative development has made the original Grounded a highly popular and acclaimed game, and Grounded 2 is following a similar trajectory, continuously improving during its Early Access phase.
The recent “Beat the Heat” update for Grounded 2 introduced a wealth of new content, including the Black Anthill, a new Puddle-Dweller boss, fresh armor and weapons, numerous quality-of-life improvements, and much more. With this update now live, players are likely eager to know what’s next for Grounded 2.
Obsidian has released an updated roadmap that outlines upcoming additions and the game’s trajectory for the rest of the year. The next major update, the Summer update, will feature Steam Deck crossplay, Swimming 2.0, ziplines, aquatic creatures and gear, additional craftable items, Omni-Tool unlocks, aquatic bases, and other enhancements.
Beyond that, future plans include more substantial content such as Mutations 2.0, new buggies, additional creatures, new Colossi and Park Bosses, fresh weapons, further Omni-Tool and armor unlocks, new archetypes, expanded building materials, and a significant push for localization.
