Just in time to mark the 45th anniversary of its release, StudioCanal has announced a remake of Joe Dante’s *The Howling*.

As you know, last night, a crowd of important film-related announcements were made to the lucky participants of CinemaCon, which we’ve been gathering all morning. However, there’s one announcement that would have been more fitting if it had been made a month ago.

Indeed, Joe Dante’s horror classic, *The Howling*, celebrated the 45th anniversary of its release this past March, and it would have been nice to mark the occasion by announcing that it would be getting a big-screen remake in the future, produced by StudioCanal.

*The Howling*, directed by (you guessed it) Joe Dante, is a horror film adapted from the novel of the same name by Gary Brandner, which follows TV news anchor Karen White (a young Dee Wallace) as she retreats to the countryside to escape an assassination attempt, only to find herself on the hunting ground of terrifying werewolves. The film was a huge success in theaters and video stores, spawning several sequels, but more importantly, it left us with scenes that have become cinematic history, such as the werewolf transformation with its handcrafted special effects.

We still don’t know when this future remake of *The Howling* will be released, but we hope to have news about the cast and release date soon.

Would you like to see a remake of *The Howling*?
