Jensen Officially Names Its Comeback Car “Interceptor GTX”

The reborn Jensen project has officially taken a significant step forward, now bearing a name: the Interceptor GTX. Revealed by Jensen International Automotive, this new vehicle is a contemporary reimagining of the classic Interceptor’s blueprint. However, it’s not simply a restomod or a continuation. Instead, it’s positioned as an ultra-high-performance GT, engineered to propel the brand into a new era.

While specific details are still emerging, the core elements are known. The GTX will be built on an aluminum chassis, feature a handcrafted aluminum body, and house a “bespoke” V8 engine. In essence, the GTX remains true to the traditional front-engine GT recipe, but with modern engineering integrated throughout.

David Duerden, Managing Director of JIA, stated in a press release: “Unveiled sixty years after the original Jensen Interceptor was launched, the 2026 Jensen Interceptor GTX marries traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to confidently assert its own contemporary character. We are excited to reveal our first prototype very soon – an ultra-high-performance pre-production special that will get the pulse racing and take Jensen into new territory.”

The Interceptor name itself carries considerable weight. The original model was instrumental in establishing Jensen as a maker of elegant, V8-powered grand tourers during the 1960s and 1970s. The new car clearly aims to leverage this heritage while carving out its own distinct identity. A pre-production version is expected to be unveiled shortly.
